My experience gaining funding for academic projects has been predominantly tied to my research abroad. In 2001, I was awarded the Fulbright Advanced Student Scholarship to study and conduct research in France. In 2006, I was a top alternate for National Science Foundation’s East Asian Pacific Summer Institute and was awarded funding to conduct research in China from O.D.U.’s College of Sciences and Dragus International Center. I also honed my proposal writing skills at the California State Personnel Board where I developed project proposals for contract work at numerous different state departments.
