WELCOME TO ODDFOD.NET
September 2, 2007
This summer, I crafted this web site from the ground up. I decided to do so for a number of reasons: it helped me organize my curriculum; it served as a creative outlet and personal challenge, and; it struck me as a very 21st century way of modernizing an academic subject that is in serious need of a structural overhaul.
Students enrolled in my Advanced Placement Literature & Composition and Academy Honors Sophomore English sections will enjoy a number of useful features.
 |
The 'Class Calendar' section provides a detailed itinerary of each class throughout the entire year. Download class notes, handouts, podcasts of important lectures and multi-media presentations from your own home. |
 |
The 'Socratic Dialogue' section is the gateway to a secure and private online threaded dialogue room where you will work with your peers to examine issues and literature using the Socratic method of inquiry. |
 |
The 'Downloads' section holds almost every document, multi-media presentation, lecture podcast, class notes and handout used throughout the year. Perfect for reviewing for exams and catching up on an absence! |
 |
The 'Extras' section keeps you up to date on noteworthy initiatives and news associated with my classes. Note the extras column on this page. |
Parents and Educators also benefit from their own environments on www.oddfod.net. Key research findings and expert analysis on relevant issues in education are available to help committed educators and informed parents make intelligent decisions. Every month or so, I will blog on an issue that I find particularly important; you are welcome to join the discussion by posting a response.
Ok, folks. Enjoy the site. I welcome your comments, questions and suggestions.
